Casa Graciela Cozumel at El Cantil

Cozumel’s Best Restaurants & Bars (2025 Guide)

Where you stay in Cozumel shapes where you eat. One of the biggest advantages of staying in town at El Cantil Condominiums is being able to walk to many of the island’s best restaurants, cafés, and waterfront bars — without relying on taxis or long rides from the hotel zone.

This guide highlights our personal favorite places to eat and drink in Cozumel — spots we visit ourselves as the owners of Casa Graciela Cozumel, our oceanfront penthouse at El Cantil. Most of these recommendations are an easy walk from the condo; a few may be a short taxi ride away for a special night out.

If you’re still deciding where to stay, pair this guide with our “Why Staying In Town Matters” article and our Best Oceanfront Rentals in Cozumel guide to see why a luxury, in-town, oceanfront vacation rental gives you the best access to Cozumel’s food, coffee, and nightlife.

Updated for 2025. As restaurants change hours, owners, or menus, we’ll keep this page refreshed with the places we genuinely love and visit most often.

☕ Best Breakfast & Coffee Spots in Cozumel

Start your day with strong coffee, fresh pastries, or a full brunch before heading out to dive, snorkel, or explore town. These are the places we find ourselves returning to again and again — all easy to reach from Casa Graciela.

Rock ’n Java Restaurant

Rock ’n Java has an extensive breakfast menu along with amazing salads and sandwiches. Their lattes, homemade breads, and fresh-baked muffins are all consistently delicious. This is our personal go-to spot for breakfast.

From Casa Graciela: an easy 2-minute oceanfront walk along Melgar — super convenient before starting your day.

Coz Coffee

Do you ever crave avocado toast? Coz Coffee has you covered. This is by far, hands down, the best avocado toast we have ever had. Be sure to order a side of tocino (bacon) 😉.

And let’s not forget about the coffee — it is fabulous. We always take a bag of beans home with us. Nothing like reminiscing back home over a fresh cup of Joe.

From Casa Graciela: a short walk into town and a perfect stop before a day of diving or exploring.

🍹 Lunch & Daytime Drinks

Whether you're coming back from a morning dive, finishing a snorkeling trip, or just exploring town, these spots are perfect for casual lunches, cold drinks, and relaxed midday meals. Many are an easy walk from Casa Graciela Cozumel, making them convenient stops during your day.

Thirsty Cougar Seaside Boozery & Kitchen

Thirsty Cougar is one of our favorite go-to spots on the island for so many reasons. It has a fun, laid-back atmosphere on a busy oceanfront corner, and the view from the street is unlike any other — perfect for people watching and catching all the ocean activity, all while great music plays in the background. It’s just a really cool vibe.

Live local music is common here, with great bands typically setting up around 8PM. It’s also a hotspot for some of the island’s best street performers, adding even more energy to the experience.

From Casa Graciela: about a 12-minute oceanfront walk or a short bike ride along Melgar.

Cozumel Dreaming Sushi

If you're craving fresh sushi, look no further than Cozumel Dreaming. Personal friends of ours own this quaint local spot, and it’s one of the most reliable places on the island for quality rolls and sashimi. An à la carte menu is available along with a very popular AYCE option for 420 pesos.

They are conveniently located in town one block up from the ocean, making it an easy destination whether you’re out exploring or looking for a chilled-out dinner in town.

From Casa Graciela: about a 13-minute walk. Note: this establishment is cash only.

🍷 Dinner & Evening Dining in Cozumel

From oceanfront restaurants with sunset views to intimate local favorites tucked into side streets, Cozumel has a surprisingly strong dinner scene. These are our top choices for a relaxed evening meal, a special night out, or a memorable vacation dinner — all within easy reach of Casa Graciela Cozumel.

Mingo’s Place

This is our NEW favorite — Mingo’s Place! The food, service, and atmosphere are outstanding, and the prices are a pleasant surprise. The steaks, hamburgers, tuna, cocktails… everything is unbelievably good.

There’s no signage on the building, giving it a fun speakeasy vibe. Upon entering, you’re immediately greeted by Mingo himself or a family member. The quaint establishment was built around their home, making the experience feel warm and personal.

From Casa Graciela: just a short 2-block walk — incredibly convenient. You absolutely do not want to miss this one!

Buccanos Beach Club

Buccanos is an upscale oceanfront beach club by day and transforms into a more formal, refined dining experience at night. Their evening menu is outstanding — a true culinary experience — and their Sunday brunch is also a longtime island favorite.

The setting is beautiful, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is perfect for a special dinner or a relaxing seaside brunch. Reservations are HIGHLY recommended.

From Casa Graciela: about a 20-minute bike ride north, or a quick taxi ride.

Guido’s Italian Restaurant

Guido’s arguably has the best pizza — anywhere! They serve classic, seasonal Italian cuisine with a laid-back vibe, a beautiful garden atmosphere, and a solid wine selection. Their homemade sangria is also a must-try.

Whether you’re craving wood-fired pizza, pasta, or just a relaxed evening in a charming courtyard, Guido’s never disappoints.

Kondesa Cocina Moderna

Just a short 10-minute walk from Casa Graciela, Kondesa is tucked into the heart of Cozumel and surrounded by an impressive jungle setting. Dining here feels magical — you can eat under the stars while enjoying thoughtful dishes inspired by local ingredients.

Their kitchen blends modern and traditional Mexican cuisine, reflecting Mexico’s thriving foodie scene with creative twists and beautifully presented plates. It’s an ideal spot for a relaxed, memorable dinner.

Del Sur Parrilla Argentina

Located just one block up from Melgar, Del Sur Parrilla Argentina serves the most amazing Argentine-style BBQ on the island. The food, service, and atmosphere are consistently outstanding — a place that leaves you fully satisfied every time.

We highly recommend ordering the BBQ to share. It’s a guest favorite and a great way to sample several of their signature cuts.

From Casa Graciela: about a 15-minute walk or an easy bike ride.

Hemingway Restaurant

Hemingway’s offers some of the best sunsets on the island, thanks to the tide pools that come right up to the edge of the restaurant. We’ve captured some of our absolute favorite sunset photos from this special location — it’s truly one of a kind.

They offer comfortable seating options and excellent guacamole served in a parmesan shell! There’s also great swimming and snorkeling right along the shoreline, making it a perfect late-afternoon or early-evening stop.

From Casa Graciela: about a 28-minute seaside walk, or an easy bike or taxi ride north.
